Mahindra and Mahindra has officially expanded its “Born Electric” lineup with the launch of the XEV 9e Cineluxe Edition on March 2, 2026. Priced at Rs. 29.35 lakh (ex-showroom), this special edition serves as the new pinnacle of the XEV 9e range. Interestingly, Mahindra has positioned this edition with aggressive pricing; it sits approximately Rs. 1.15 lakh below the standard top-spec Pack Three variant despite offering several exclusive aesthetic and software enhancements.

The “Cineluxe” moniker is not merely a marketing tag; it reflects a targeted strategy to transform the electric vehicle from a transport tool into a “private lounge” experience, specifically designed for those who value in-cabin entertainment and refined textures.

Bespoke Aesthetics: Satin Finishes and Lounge Interiors

The most immediate differentiator for the Cineluxe Edition is its exterior paint. It is available in two exclusive monotone shades: Satin Black and Satin White. These finishes are complemented by high-gloss black cladding and subtle “Cineluxe” badging on the rear C-pillars.

Inside, the cabin moves away from the standard black-and-white theme in favor of a more sophisticated Chestnut Brown and Nocturne Black dual-tone palette. The dashboard, door pads, and seats are finished in smooth-grain leatherette with contrasting brown stitching. This transition significantly elevates the perceived quality of the interior, aligning it with luxury European EV rivals.

The “Cine” Experience: Technology and Software

The heart of the Cineluxe Edition is its “coast-to-coast” triple-screen array. The dashboard features three interconnected 12.3-inch high-definition displays that span the entire width of the vehicle. To support the “cinema” theme, Mahindra has integrated a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system specifically tuned for Dolby Atmos, providing a 360-degree surround sound experience that is currently unrivaled in its price segment.

New for the 2026 Cineluxe Edition are three specialized HVAC modes designed for varied lifestyle scenarios:

    1. Camp Mode: Optimizes battery and climate control for stationary usage, allowing occupants to use the vehicle as a climate-controlled base camp.
    2. Keep Mode: Maintains the cabin temperature even after the driver exits, ideal for quick errands.
    3. PawPal Mode: A safety-first mode designed specifically for pet owners, ensuring the cabin stays at a safe temperature for animals left briefly inside the vehicle, with a notification displayed on the external screens.

    Performance and Long-Range Capability

Mechanically, the Cineluxe Edition is built on the flagship Pack Three architecture. It utilizes a 79 kWh LFP battery pack that delivers a claimed ARAI range of 656 km. In real-world conditions, this translates to a dependable 500+ km on a single charge.

The rear-mounted electric motor produces 282 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV-coupe to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.45 seconds. Charging is equally impressive; when connected to a 175 kW DC fast charger, the Cineluxe can replenish its battery from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes.

    Market Positioning

With bookings opening today and deliveries scheduled to commence on March 10, 2026, the Cineluxe Edition is poised to dominate the premium EV conversation. By combining a “theatre-on-wheels” approach with a localized, rugged platform, Mahindra is proving that the future of Indian EVs lies in high-tech personalization.
