The global march of the Jetour T2 continues. On March 13, 2026, Jetour Malaysia officially launched the T2 adventure SUV, positioning it as a premium “Urban Explorer” for a market increasingly obsessed with rugged, boxy aesthetics.

Priced at RM 156,800 (approx. ₹37.30 lakh), the T2 is more than just a style statement; it is a high-tech off-roader designed to bridge the gap between daily luxury and hardcore weekend exploration.

    Rugged Design Meets “Mini-Defender” Vibes

Visually, the Jetour T2 is an immediate head-turner. It adopts a muscular, upright silhouette that pays homage to legendary off-roaders like the Land Rover Defender. Key exterior highlights include:

    • Illuminated Identity: A massive front grille featuring an illuminated “JETOUR” wordmark and square LED headlamps.
    • Adventure-Ready: 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Giti 4×4 all-terrain tyres, fixed side steps, and a signature rear-mounted spare tyre box.
    • Trail-Built: Despite its refined interior, the T2 offers a 700mm wading depth and impressive approach/departure angles, making it a genuine contender for light-to-mid-level off-roading.

    A Tech-Heavy “Smart” Sanctuary

Step inside, and the rugged exterior gives way to a cabin that rivals European luxury brands. The center stage is taken by a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen powered by a Snapdragon 8155 chipset, ensuring zero lag.

For the Malaysian market, Jetour has packed the T2 with premium amenities:

    • Audio & Comfort: A 12-speaker Sony surround sound system, ventilated and memory-adjustable front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.
    • Intelligent Off-Roading: The “X-Mode” acts like an autopilot for the dirt, automatically selecting the best torque distribution settings based on the terrain.
    • Safety: A full Level 2 ADAS suite and a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating provide peace of mind for family adventures.

    Performance and Reliability

Under the hood, the Malaysian-spec T2 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 254 PS and 390 Nm of torque. This power is managed by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and a BorgWarner-sourced Intelligent XWD system.

To build consumer confidence, Jetour is offering an industry-leading 10-year or 1-million-km powertrain warranty, a bold move that signals their commitment to long-term durability.

What Does This Mean for India?

For Indian enthusiasts, the Malaysia launch is a significant milestone. JSW Group has already patented the Jetour T2 in India, but with a twist. Unlike the pure-petrol version sold in Malaysia, the India-spec model (expected by Diwali 2026) is slated to be the i-DM Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV).

The Indian version will likely combine a 1.5-litre turbo engine with a dual-motor setup, offering a massive 610 Nm of torque and an all-electric range of roughly 139 km. Locally assembled at JSW’s new Maharashtra facility, the T2 is expected to retail between ₹25 lakh and ₹35 lakh, putting it in direct competition with the Mahindra Scorpio-N and Tata Safari.
