Tata Motors has officially revived one of its most legendary nameplates for the electric era. The all-new Tata Sierra EV has officially launched in India, with prices starting from ₹18.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
Positioned directly above the Curvv EV as Tata’s newest flagship electric offering, the Sierra EV is built on the advanced acti.ev+ architecture. It seamlessly blends the iconic, nostalgic silhouette of the original 1990s three-door SUV with state-of-the-art electric powertrains, a premium triple-screen cabin, and available all-wheel-drive (AWD) capability.
Retro-Modern Visuals and the Iconic Glasshouse
The design of the 2026 Sierra EV is a masterful exercise in balancing heritage with modernity. Up front, it retains a commanding, high-set upright bonnet, but updates the fascia with a completely closed-off EV grille flanked by sleek, sequential full-width LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The side profile pays direct homage to its ancestor, featuring the signature curved rear panoramic glasshouse layout that mimics the original wrap-around alpine windows.
To complete its rugged flagship appearance, Tata has equipped the Sierra EV with prominent squarish wheel arches, clean flush-fitting door handles, and large 19-inch aerodynamically optimized dual-tone alloy wheels. The clean, minimalist theme extends to the flat rear tailgate, which is dominated by an end-to-end connected LED tail-lamp structure and a bold, illuminated logo badge.

Stepping inside the Sierra EV reveals a passenger cabin focused heavily on executive-class rear comfort and advanced digital real estate. The dashboard layout features a unique triple-screen array, which cleanly integrates a high-resolution digital driver instrument panel, a primary 12.3-inch floating touchscreen media unit running Tata’s latest UI framework, and a dedicated passenger entertainment display block built directly into the co-driver side trim.

Comfort levels match its premium flagship status. Thanks to a long 2,730 mm wheelbase, the Sierra EV offers segment-leading legroom, which is further elevated by a specialized “boss mode” passenger seat adjustment and an ultra-wide panoramic sunroof. Practical storage is similarly massive, featuring a 633-litre rear boot that expands up to 1,257 litres with the seats folded down, complemented by a convenient 55-litre front trunk (frunk) under the bonnet.
High-Voltage Performance and Bidirectional Charging
Mechanically, the Sierra EV breaks new ground for Tata’s electric fleet. The entry-level variants utilize a 63 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack mated to a single electric motor powering the rear wheels, producing a healthy 235 PS and 315 Nm of torque.
The flagship 75 kWh battery configuration can be configured with an advanced dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) setup, dubbed “QWD” by Tata. This high-performance dual-motor version bumps cumulative output to a massive 313 PS and 504 Nm of torque, pushing the SUV from 0 to 100 kmph in a blistering 5.8 seconds via a physical console-mounted boost trigger.
Charging is remarkably quick; the platform supports up to 120 kW DC fast charging, allowing both battery variants to juice up from 20 to 80 percent in exactly 26 minutes.
Furthermore, the Sierra EV comes equipped with robust bidirectional charging utility, providing full Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) at 3.3 kW to power home appliances and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging support up to 5 kW. Backed by standard 6 airbags, a 540-degree transparent camera, a comprehensive 22-feature Level 2 ADAS suite, and a 15-year lifetime battery warranty for the first owner, the Sierra EV stands out as a highly compelling premium overland package.
