The wait for MG Motor India’s most imposing SUV is almost over. On April 21, 2026, MG officially confirmed that the pricing for its all-new flagship, the MG Majestor, will be announced on April 27. Positioned as the spiritual and technical successor to the Gloster, the Majestor is designed to be the “Fortuner Killer” the Indian market has been speculating about for months.

With pre-bookings already open for a token amount of ₹41,000, the Majestor isn’t just another SUV; it is a full-size D+ segment beast that measures over five meters in length, making it the longest and tallest in its class.

    The Powertrain: Twin-Turbo Muscle

Under the hood, the Majestor skips the entry-level single-turbo engines found in its predecessors. It exclusively utilizes the high-performance 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine.

    • Performance: It churns out a massive 215 hp and 478.5 Nm of torque.
    • Transmission: This power is managed by an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
    • Go-Anywhere Capability: The 4×4 variants come equipped with a sophisticated All-Terrain Management System, offering seven selectable modes including Rock, Sand, Mud, and Snow, alongside a triple differential lock setup for serious off-roading.

Design: “Dragon Eye” Aesthetics & Road Presence

The Majestor adopts a “muscular-premium” design language that makes the current competition look dated.

    • Exterior Lighting: It features the new “Dragon Eye” LED DRLs and a massive Mosaic Matrix grille finished in high-gloss black.
    • The Silhouette: Riding on 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, the SUV features a connected LED tail-lamp bar at the rear with “Morris Garages” lettering embossed across the tailgate.
    • Wading Depth: For those who take their SUVs through the monsoon floods, the Majestor boasts a segment-best 810mm water-wading capability.

    Interior: The “M-Lounge” Experience

Inside, MG has transitioned to what they call the “M-Lounge” theme—a dark, sophisticated cabin with soft-touch materials and high-end tech.

    • Dual-Screen Cockpit: The dashboard is dominated by dual 12.4-inch screens—one for the digital instrument cluster and another for the i-Smart 2.0 infotainment system.
    • Luxury Features: The Savvy trim offers ventilated front seats with an 8-mode massage function, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, and a massive panoramic sunroof.
    • Connectivity: In partnership with Reliance Jio, the Majestor debuts 75+ connected car features, including a digital key and integrated JioSaavn streaming.

MG Majestor vs. The Competition (Expected Pricing)

    VariantEngine / DrivetrainExpected Price (Ex-Showroom)
    Sharp 4×22.0L Twin-Turbo / RWD₹39,50,000
    Sharp 4×42.0L Twin-Turbo / 4WD₹41,50,000
    Savvy 4×42.0L Twin-Turbo / 4WD₹43,25,000
    Toyota Fortuner2.8L Diesel / 4WD₹42,90,000 – ₹47,00,000

    The Verdict

By standardizing Level 2 ADAS and the twin-turbo engine, MG is targeting the premium buyer who finds the Toyota Fortuner’s interior too basic and the Skoda Kodiaq’s off-road ability too limited. If the final price lands near the ₹40 lakh mark on April 27, the Majestor could very well become the new king of the ladder-frame segment.

Will the Majestor’s 810mm wading depth and massage seats be enough to pull you away from the legendary Fortuner? Let us know in the comments!
