Renault India has officially hit the “reset” button. On April 16, 2026, Renault Group CEO Francois Provost and India CEO Stephane Deblaise unveiled the “FutuREady India” strategy—an aggressive 7-model offensive aimed at capturing a 5% market share by 2030.

This isn’t just about new badges; it is a total overhaul of Renault’s DNA in India. From a global hub for exports to a technological leader in the “budget-premium” space, Renault is moving away from its narrow lineup to a high-volume, multi-powertrain future.

    The Architecture: RGEP vs. RGMP

The most significant news is the retirement of the aging CMF-A platform. In its place, Renault is deploying two new modular architectures that allow for 90% localization:

    1. RGEP (Renault Group Entry Platform): This replaces the CMF-A (used by Kwid/Kiger). It is now “flex-ready,” supporting EV, Hybrid, and Turbo-CNG powertrains.
    2. RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform): This is the heavier-duty backbone for the upcoming Duster and its larger 7-seater sibling, supporting sophisticated 4WD and E-Tech hybrid systems.

Triber & Kiger: The Turbo-CNG Revolution

For years, the Renault Triber was criticized for being underpowered. By Diwali 2026, that narrative changes.

    • 1.0L Turbo Petrol: The Triber will finally receive the 100 hp HR10 turbo engine from the Kiger, paired with a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
    • Under-Floor Dual CNG: Borrowing a leaf from Tata’s book but improving the execution, Renault has patented an under-body twin-cylinder setup. By mounting the tanks beneath the chassis rather than inside the boot, the Triber maintains its full 7-seater practicality and luggage space even in CNG mode.

The “Bridger”: A New SUV Challenger

While the Duster remains the halo product, the newly confirmed Renault Bridger is the high-volume play.

    • Positioning: Slotted between the Kiger and the Duster, the Bridger is a rugged, boxy SUV aimed at the sub-4-meter segment (Tata Nexon/Maruti Brezza).
    • Powertrain: It will debut a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and will eventually become Renault’s first locally manufactured EV in 2027.

The Verdict: Is 5% Market Share Possible?

Renault’s March 2026 sales showed a 77% uptick, proving that there is a hunger for the brand’s European aesthetics. By solving the Triber’s power deficit and introducing a factory-fitted CNG solution that doesn’t kill the boot space, Renault is tackling the specific pain points of the Indian family buyer.
