During a high-level earnings call on February 25, 2026, Mahindra & Mahindra’s Executive Director and CEO, Rajesh Jejurikar, officially confirmed the launch timeline for the company’s next major electric vehicle. The production version of the BE.07 concept—internally referred to as the B07—is now slated for a calendar year 2027 debut.
While the BE6 and XEV 9e have already established a foothold in the premium segment, Mahindra is positioning the B07 as its most significant “volume driver” to date. This shift suggests that while earlier models focused on high-performance “halo” branding, the B07 is engineered to capture the heart of the mainstream mid-size SUV market.
Strategic Positioning: Beyond the Coupe-SUV
The 2027 B07 represents a pivot in Mahindra’s design philosophy. While the currently available BE6 and XEV 9e feature radical, coupe-like sloping rooflines, the B07 will adopt a more traditional, upright SUV stance. This “boxy” silhouette is a calculated move to appeal to family buyers who prioritize cabin headroom and a commanding road presence over aerodynamic sportiness.
Dimensionally, the B07 is expected to measure approximately 4.6 meters in length. This puts it squarely in competition with the upcoming Tata Harrier EV and the VinFast VF7, sitting comfortably above the Maruti Suzuki eVitara in terms of size and road footprint.
Technical Architecture and Range
Like its siblings, the B07 will be underpinned by the INGLO (Indian Global) skateboard platform. However, for the 2027 launch, Mahindra is expected to utilize its most advanced battery chemistry to date:
- Battery Options: Buyers will likely choose between a 60 kWh “Life” pack for urban use and a larger 79 kWh “Long Range” pack.
- Charging Speeds: The 800V-ready architecture will support up to 175 kW DC fast charging, allowing the vehicle to replenish from 10% to 80% in roughly 20 to 25 minutes.
- Performance: Estimates suggest a rear-wheel-drive output of 230 PS, with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant potentially exceeding 340 PS for top-tier trims.
A Technology-First Cabin
Spy shots of the interior test mules—and early concept previews—show a dashboard dominated by a massive “triple-screen” array. This setup integrates the driver’s instrument cluster, a central infotainment hub, and a dedicated entertainment screen for the front passenger. Mahindra is also expected to incorporate an augmented reality (AR) heads-up display and a Level 2+ ADAS suite calibrated specifically for Indian traffic complexities, including pedestrian and animal detection.
The Volume Driver Ambition
The CEO’s description of the B07 as a “volume driver” is the most telling detail for potential buyers. It indicates that Mahindra aims to leverage economies of scale from its current EV production to price the B07 aggressively. If Mahindra can slot the entry-level B07 near the 25-lakh mark, it could potentially disrupt the dominance of internal combustion engines in the executive SUV category.
As the Indian EV infrastructure matures toward 2027, the B07 is poised to be the vehicle that moves electric mobility from a niche lifestyle choice to a primary household vehicle.
