Jeep India has just injected a fresh dose of utility and “blacked-out” swagger into its flagship three-row SUV. Launched on February 16, 2026, the Jeep Meridian Track Edition is a limited-run variant designed to answer the most common critique of the standard model: interior flexibility.

Based on the top-tier Overland trim, the Track Edition isn’t just a “sticker job.” It introduces functional cabin changes and a new ownership ecosystem aimed at making the Meridian the most practical choice in the premium D-segment.

The Major Upgrade: 140mm of Flexibility

The headline feature of the 2026 Track Edition is the newly introduced sliding second-row seat. While the original Meridian faced criticism for its tight third-row access, this version allows passengers to slide the middle bench forward by 140mm.

    • Third-Row Access: The sliding mechanism significantly eases ingress and egress for rear passengers.
    • Customizable Legroom: Families can now prioritize cargo space or legroom dynamically, a feature Jeep claims was “driven directly by Indian customer feedback.”

Stealth Aesthetics: The Track Edition Look

Visually, the Track Edition ditches the “chrome-heavy” luxury look for a more aggressive, stealthy aesthetic.

    • Exterior Accents: The signature seven-slat grille, ORVM housings, and all model badging receive a Piano Black treatment. This is complemented by a unique Dark Espresso grille finish with Neutral Grey highlights.
    • Exclusive Decals: A bespoke “Track Edition” hood decal and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels set it apart from the standard Overland at a glance.
    • Cabin Refinement: Inside, the SUV features a dual-tone Tupelo and Black theme with premium suede inserts and a “Cortina” leather-wrapped steering wheel.

    Proven Diesel Performance

Under the hood, Jeep sticks to its guns with the reliable 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel engine.

    • Output: It continues to deliver 170 HP and 350 Nm of torque.
    • Drivetrain: The engine is mated exclusively to a 9-speed automatic transmission, available in both 4×2 (FWD) and 4×4 (AWD) configurations. The 4×4 variants retain the capable Selec-Terrain system for authentic off-road credentials.

Peace of Mind: Jeep Confidence 7

Perhaps the most strategic addition for 2026 is the Jeep Confidence 7 program bundled with this edition. To combat concerns over long-term maintenance, Jeep is offering:

    • Up to 7 years of warranty coverage.
    • An Assured Buyback program to protect resale value.
    • Comprehensive maintenance packages and 24/7 roadside assistance.

    Pricing and Competition

The Track Edition is priced at ₹35.95 lakh for the 4×2 AT and ₹37.82 lakh for the 4×4 AT (ex-showroom). This represents a modest premium of roughly ₹34,000 over the standard Overland trim.

In a segment dominated by the Toyota Fortuner and the MG Gloster, the 2026 Meridian Track Edition carves out a niche for the buyer who wants European-style handling and “Jeep” toughness without the massive footprint of a ladder-frame SUV.
