The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a minor revision to the FASTag Annual Pass fee for the upcoming financial year, 2026–27. Starting April 1, 2026, the cost of the annual pass will increase from the current ₹3,000 to ₹3,075.

This adjustment of ₹75—approximately a 2.5% increase—has been implemented in accordance with the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008, which mandate regular updates to toll-related charges based on inflation and administrative requirements.

What is the FASTag Annual Pass?

Introduced on August 15, 2025, the FASTag Annual Pass was designed to offer financial relief and convenience to frequent highway travelers. It allows owners of non-commercial private vehicles (such as cars, jeeps, and vans) to pay a one-time fee, eliminating the need for frequent top-ups and individual toll transactions at every plaza.

Key benefits of the pass include:

  • Validity: Valid for one year from the date of activation or 200 toll crossings, whichever comes first.
  • Coverage: Valid at approximately 1,150 fee plazas across National Highways and National Expressways.
  • Seamless Travel: Once activated, it removes the need to maintain a high wallet balance for every trip on covered routes, streamlining the commuting experience.

How to Purchase or Renew

If you are a frequent commuter, you can purchase or renew the pass digitally. The process is straightforward:

  1. Platform: Visit the official Rajmarg Yatra mobile application or the official NHAI website.
  2. Verification: Log in using your registered vehicle number and FASTag ID. Ensure your FASTag is active and correctly affixed to your vehicle’s windshield.
  3. Payment: Pay the revised fee of ₹3,075 using UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.
  4. Activation: Once payment is confirmed, the pass is typically linked to your existing FASTag within two hours.

Important Considerations for Users

  • Eligibility: This pass is exclusively for private, non-commercial vehicles. It cannot be used for taxis, commercial goods carriers, or buses.
  • Usage Limits: Once you exhaust the 200-trip limit or reach the one-year mark, the FASTag will automatically revert to the standard pay-per-use system. However, users who exhaust their 200 trips early are free to purchase a new annual pass immediately.
  • Non-Transferability: The pass is tied to a specific vehicle’s registration and FASTag; it cannot be transferred to another vehicle.
  • Non-National Highways: At state highways or other fee plazas not under the NHAI network, standard toll charges will continue to be deducted from your regular FASTag balance.

With over 56 lakh users already enrolled, the FASTag Annual Pass remains one of the most cost-effective ways to manage highway travel expenses, even with the modest price adjustment for the new financial year.
