As the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market enters the final stretch of the 2025-26 fiscal year, MG Motor India has made a strategic move to dominate the mid-range crossover segment. The company has officially announced a comprehensive incentive program for the MG Windsor EV, offering potential savings of up to ₹70,000 throughout March 2026.

This promotional push arrives at a critical time. While the Windsor EV has already established itself as a top-10 seller in the electric segment, these new benefits are designed to convert fence-sitters who have been weighing the Windsor against competitors like the Tata Nexon EV and the recently updated Mahindra XUV400.

Breaking Down the ₹70,000 Benefit Structure

The “March Advantage” package is a multi-layered offer designed to provide value regardless of whether you are a first-time buyer or a returning MG customer. The ₹70,000 total benefit typically breaks down as follows:

    • Exchange Bonus: Up to ₹20,000 for customers trading in their old internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
    • Loyalty Rewards: An additional ₹20,000 for existing MG owners (Comet, Hector, or Astor users) upgrading to the Windsor.
    • Special Cash Benefits: Direct retail benefits of up to ₹20,000 on select variants like the Exclusive Pro and Essence Pro.
    • Corporate & Government Discounts: A further ₹10,000 for employees of listed corporate entities and government departments.

    The Disruptor: Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)

While the discounts are attractive, the real headline for the Windsor EV in 2026 remains its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. By unbundling the cost of the battery from the vehicle, MG has managed to bring the upfront price of a premium electric crossover down to just ₹9.99 lakh.

Under this scheme, owners pay a fixed rental or a per-kilometer fee for battery usage—typically starting at ₹3.5 per km. For city commuters, this effectively makes the Windsor EV cheaper to acquire than many mid-spec petrol SUVs, while maintaining a premium feature set that includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen and 135-degree reclining “Aero-Lounge” rear seats.

Range and Performance: What You Get

The 2026 Windsor EV is offered in two main configurations to suit different driving needs:

    1. 38 kWh Battery: Delivering a claimed range of 332 km, ideal for urban professionals.
    2. 52.9 kWh Battery: Offering a robust 449 km range, suitable for weekend getaways and highway commutes.

Both versions utilize a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque, ensuring the silent, instantaneous acceleration that has become the hallmark of the EV experience.

Why Now is the Time to Buy

The current ₹70,000 benefit is a “limited period” offer, expiring on March 31, 2026. For buyers, this represents a unique window where the lower upfront cost of the BaaS model converges with high seasonal discounts. As infrastructure expands across India, the Windsor EV—with its focus on rear-seat luxury and tech-first cabin—is positioning itself as the most sensible transition for families moving away from traditional petrol vehicles.
