The king of the MG stable is getting a new name and a massive upgrade. On April 20, 2026, MG Motor India will officially reveal the pricing for the MG Majestor, the brand’s new flagship Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) SUV. Positioned to replace the Gloster, the Majestor isn’t just a simple name change; it represents a significant leap in size, luxury, and off-road capability.

With bookings already open for a token amount of ₹41,000, the Majestor is being marketed as India’s first “D+ Segment” SUV, aimed squarely at the Toyota Fortuner Legender and the upcoming Ford Endeavour (Everest).

Bigger in Every Dimension

The Majestor takes the “imposing” stance of the Gloster and turns it up to eleven. Measuring over five metres in length (5,046 mm) and two metres in width, it is 61mm longer and 90mm wider than its predecessor.

  • The “Mosaic Matrix” Grille: The front is dominated by a massive blacked-out grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, and sleek eyebrow-style DRLs.
  • Road Presence: Riding on 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with chunky wheel arches and a connected LED taillight setup, the Majestor is designed to be the largest footprint in its price bracket.

The Powerhouse: Twin-Turbo Diesel

Under the hood, the Majestor retains the proven workhorse from the higher-spec Gloster but refined for 2026.

  • The Engine: A 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215 PS and 478 Nm of torque.
  • Off-Road Hardware: This is where the Majestor truly shines. It features a segment-first triple differential lock (front, center, and rear) and a specialized “M-Crawl” system. This low-speed crawl control manages throttle and braking automatically, allowing the driver to focus solely on steering through treacherous terrain like mud, rock, or deep sand.

A “Business Class” Cabin

While the outside is rugged, the inside is pure luxury. MG has moved away from the Gloster’s tan themes to a more sophisticated “Smoke Ebony” interior.

  • Dual Screens: The dashboard features two 12.3-inch displays—one for the instrument cluster and one for the i-SMART 2.0 infotainment system.
  • First-Class Comfort: The front seats are not just ventilated; they feature 8-mode massage functions and a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory.
  • Tech Galore: From a 12-speaker JBL sound system to a 220V power outlet for rear passengers and Level 2 ADAS, the Majestor leaves no box unchecked.

Market Positioning and Expected Price

The Majestor will be offered in two primary trims: Sharp (available in 2WD and 4WD) and Savvy (exclusive to 4WD). Unlike the premium “MG Select” network, the Majestor will be sold through MG’s standard dealerships to ensure maximum reach across India.

Expected to be priced between ₹40 lakh and ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom), the Majestor offers a significantly more tech-heavy alternative to the Toyota Fortuner. For buyers who found the Gloster a bit too soft, the Majestor’s rugged ladder-frame chassis and triple lockers might just be the “beast” they’ve been waiting for.
