Kia India is wasting no time in 2026. Following the massive success of its initial launch, the company officially introduced a mid-cycle refresh for the Kia Carens Clavis EV today, March 19, 2026. This “Model Year 2026” (MY26) update isn’t just a minor cosmetic tweak; it addresses the core of what modern Indian families want: more choice, sportier aesthetics, and the unmatched comfort of captain seats.

With prices now ranging from ₹17.99 lakh to ₹24.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Carens Clavis EV is positioning itself as the most versatile electric MPV in the sub-₹25 lakh segment.

The Big Move: 6-Seater Captain Seat Layout

Until now, the Carens Clavis EV was strictly a 7-seater affair. Responding to customer feedback, Kia has introduced a 6-seater configuration across almost the entire lineup—including the HTX, HTX+, and the new GTX variants.

The addition of second-row captain seats significantly elevates the in-cabin experience. It offers superior under-thigh support and creates a “walk-through” space to the third row, making it far easier for passengers to navigate the cabin. Interestingly, Kia has decided to keep the pricing for the 6-seater and 7-seater variants identical, allowing buyers to choose based purely on their lifestyle needs.

GT-Line and X-Line: Sporty Meets Stealth

For those who want their family mover to look a bit more aggressive, Kia has finally brought its signature GT-Line and X-Line trims to the electric MPV.

  • GT-Line (GTX & GTX+): These variants focus on a high-energy, sporty aesthetic. Key highlights include 16-inch black high-gloss aero alloy wheels, Lime Green brake calipers, and premium metal pedals. Inside, you get a darker cabin theme with GT-Line branding and contrast stitching.
  • X-Line: Aimed at the “stealth” enthusiast, the X-Line debuts an exclusive Dark Gun Metal matte exterior color. It features a complete chrome-delete treatment, replacing shiny bits with gloss black accents for a rugged, modern look.

Tech & Performance: Same Range, Smarter Features

Mechanically, the Carens Clavis EV remains consistent, offering two battery choices that continue to lead the segment in efficiency:

  • Standard Range (42 kWh): Delivering a claimed 404 km (MIDC).
  • Extended Range (51.4 kWh): Delivering a robust 490 km (MIDC), with a real-world estimate of around 380 km.

The MY26 update does bring new tech to the top-tier GTX+ and X-Line variants. These now come equipped with Digital Key technology (allowing you to unlock the car via your smartphone) and a Battery Heater, which optimizes charging speeds and performance in colder North Indian climates.

Strengthening the Market Position

With this update, Kia is clearly aiming to stay ahead of the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. By offering a 3-row, 6-seater electric option with SUV-inspired styling, the Carens Clavis EV remains the only true “family-first” electric vehicle that doesn’t compromise on the “cool” factor.
